Parkinsons Disease

http://www.activadbs.com/educational_animations.asp

My dad is 51 years old and was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease about 10 years ago...and knew he had something wrong longer. I remember him always telling my mom that his arm would hurt and he knew something was wrong with him. The doctors couldn't figure it out and finally it gave him rest to know it wasn't just in his mind. After that it slowly took a tole on his life. He went from working full time, coaching baseball, and being very active to crawling on the floor in tremendous muscle pain. He also had to be in a wheel chair because Parkinson's takes away the ability to be able to tell the brain to move a body part. His mind says move but the little electrodes just don't send the message at the right time. It was a tough time for him but as one of my bloggers(sorry can't remember your name!) said yesterday...

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

He finally heard about this surgery called activa which helps with a deep brain stimulation. I won't go into what it is exactly , you need to check out the link I sent you. Basically he gets a tube on the right and left side of his brain and they go down to his chest which hook up to these little batteries and they send out electricity to help him. He had this surgery 3 years ago and today is the day he goes back to get the new batteries. Let me remind you the second part of this is out patient. To think the brain was so important in our bodies that they'd need to keep him a week! But no he went home the next day after the batteries were put in! Oh! and he prayed with his surgeon before they started!

So surgery again this morning at 8am pst. He noticed a few months ago that he was slowing down. He almost fell yesterday trying to get to his keyboard cause he loves to play worship music. The day he got home from his first surgery he was up and it was a miracle from God. He was up and playing worship music ...this was crazy he went from being in pain and in a reclining chair with no movement to springing up walking like those stories in the bible about miracles. People at church call him the miricle man. YOU DONT EVEN KNOW UNLESS YOU SAW IT.

So if you know anyone with Parkinsons Disease please share the link because a lot of people have no idea about this.

That's so wonderful for your father! My Aunt died of a Parkinson's disease and she was so active before it hit. I'm thrilled you found something that works miracles.

Your dad is so lucky that this worked for him. My dad recently passed away from Parkinson's. It is a very challenging disease. Do everything you can to educate yourself on the process. It will help you in the long run!
