Post Halloween

I was the... TICKLE MONSTER! This is based on the book Tickle Monster by Josie Bissett. I got the gloves and went from there with my costume. I used everything I already had at home. It was cool because I really don't own much like I used to because of my whole everything is junk phase better known as spring cleaning. I managed to kee some bunny ears, valentine heart ears, a vintage lion kiddie hamper WITH A TAIL, vintage coat with fur trim and of course some extra blue fur trim. I had orange paint ...acrlyic of course and borrowed the blue pants. I used to have some cool blue boots that you put on top of your shoes, they have straps and everytime I would stomp they would go boom boom boom, but---- they are missing... so I wore my pink sauconys.

It is a very cute giggly wiggly book that every child should hear and take part in... because they really should be tickled 10 times a day!

ps- I had to dress up as a character in book for my (preschool teacher) job.

"Too indie for mainstream, too mainstream for the indie scene." - Pilot Whale

WARNING: This is not music for people that are into what is "in". This is completely fresh, extraordinary, spectacular, jaw dropping and eye popping to my dinner party.

Pilot Whale is: Brian Mayfield, Ryan McIntosh, and Jonathan Caro..Oh and not to mention an entire list of amazing guest artists thrown in each song...including the unmentioned man in the back of the photo, Steve Elkins!

Pilot Whale. My boyfriend is in this band. Jonathan Caro. The new music is ridiculous, I can't explain how addicting it is, but the recordings are not up yet. So sorry. I am lucky enough to hear it in raw form. AND GUESS WHAT? I always end up liking it best exactly like that, unfinished, unpresentable to the worlds eye OR of course ear. Until then, for now, a review from the former band, My Compatriots... the short lived entity.

Review of My Compatriots-http://www.indievisionmusic.com/2008/03/15/my-compatriots-super-band/

For all you that had a chance to see them live, you are 1 in a million. Lucky us. And for the rest of you... take the opportunity to bookmark, stalk and when available go see Pilot Whale while they leave a mark on hearts in your town. You will feel like a kid again going to shows/hearing the album and by getting that raw awesomeness back of what music is truly supposed to be about. This is what a very small portion of the world has been longing for since the day they thought the music scene just about lost its soul. Music is going to be real and powerful again after a long awaited generation has missed the truth about the heart of music.

Introducing Judah!

(Judah as a child with out his front toofers)

My story begins in 1973. I was born, handicapped, with a birth defect called spina bifida - the base of my spine didn't fully form during birth, and was partially on the outside of my body thru an opening in my lower back.
When I was born, I didn't enter the world the normal way, head first. I came out, tush-first, my legs draped over my chest, my feet shaped like golf clubs and tucked behind my head, and my arms hugging my legs. What an entrance eh?

My first surgery was performed when I was only hours old, and then every week after that for 3 months, I had surgeries. My home for those first three months was a hospital bed and the OR, and my parents' home was the hospital chapel.

My skull was misshapen and they had to insert a shunt, a hollow tube, inside my skull to regulate the flow of fluids, as they didn't have anywhere to go freely because of my skull. The other end of it was put into my stomach. The condition which causes this (the buildup of fluid in the skull) is called hydrocephalus, commonly called "water on the brain".

During this time, I also inadvertently helped save a life. My grandmother at the time was an alcoholic. During the periods that I underwent surgeries, she prayed to God, saying: "Please God, let him live. If you let him live, I will never touch another drink again."

35 years later, she has never touched a drink since. -- The story of how I got my name, as do the previous several paragraphs sounds like a movie I know, but it's all true . An angel of the Lord came into my mom's room - this was before I was born - and appeared to her, telling her to give me the name I now have - Judah Elijah Stephens:

Judah - "praise" Elijah - "called of God" Stephens - "crowned" I was raised in a Christian home so I knew all about God and stuff, but i didn't get serious with my "walk" with God until my 12th birthday, in 1985, when for my birthday, my parents got me tickets to see one of my favorite Christian bands of the time, called Stryper (so named for the verse Isaiah 53:5 .. by His stripes we are healed). The letters of their band name spelled out an acronym which was: Strength Through Redemption Yielding Peace, Encouragement, and Righteousness.

They sang about kickin' the devil to hell, and being "Soldiers under God's command" and things like that, and that really got my interest, not just the music, but the message behind it. So, at the end of the concert they gave an altar call, and without any influence on my parents' part to go up, I went up by myself, and got serious about it and gave my life to God that night. And 24 years later, at 35, I'm still serving Him, and nothing will ever make me change my way of thinking or beliefs.

if you'd like to ask me anything, about my disability or whatever, feel free to ask.

(I asked Judah what his shirt said, I am just one of those people that HAS to know:
"its a band t-shirt.. Christian rock group called Disciple".

ok now that we got through "who Judah is" I wanted to share why I added him to my top fave people to share. I have known Judah for many years, I believe 7 years. We have been online pals since (about) the beginning years of my blogging (blogger since the late 90s). He has always kept up with adding funnies and devotion-like posts not only on the blog but on multiple sites including Face Book. Oh not only does he do fun posts but...

He does amazing art too! Just look at them I couldn't choose my favorites...it was a hard one because I love them all!! These are all hand drawn and his personal designs. You can check more of them out on the link above to see his web site with all the drawings.

Judah also does 3d art with scriptures. PLEASE go and check the website for more of Judah's art...it's a must see!
